Kim Delaney is an American actress who is best known as the character the role of Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she received the Emmy Award. Also, she has appeared in dramas such as All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the child of an executive at the United Auto Workers who was also a mother. Delaney has four older brothers. When she was a little girl, Delaney wanted to be a court-reporter. In highschool the time came when she began modeling commercials, she moved to New York. In her teens her first appearance as an actor was on the soap opera of 1980 All My Children. Delaney's career has been filled by a myriad of TV films and dramas. Like her career but her personal life hasn't been happy or successful. The accomplished actress battled the effects of alcohol and two marriages fall apart. She lost custody of her son in 2005.
